Penguin Prison for Skinnie Magazine

Last year I had the opportunity to photoshoot Penguin Prison for Skinnie Magazine.

It was my second job for the magazine, which was really cool.

The location for the photoshoot was the Slide Bar, in Anaheim, where Penguin Prison was going to play that night.

And as usual, when you shoot at the venue where the artist is going to perform, you know you won’t have much time to take the shots.

With that in mind, I got there 2 hours ahead of time with my friend to scout for locations and take some test shots.

Because of that, when Penguin Prison arrived, I talked to him really quick about what I wanted him to do and started shooting.

We walked around to the different spots I wanted to shoot with my friend holding a lightstand with a beauty dish on my strobe. The shoot was done in less then 10 minutes.

 

 

No ano passado tive a oportunidade de fotografar o musico Penguin Prison para a revista Skinnie Magazine.
Foi o meu segundo trabalho para esta revista, o que foi muito legal.
O local para a sessão foi um bar chamado Slide Bar, em Anaheim, aonde o Penguin Prison iria se apresentar naquela noite.
Como de costume, quando você fotografa no local aonde o artista irá se apresentar, você já sabe que não terá muito tempo para clicar.
Com isso em mente, cheguei duas horas mais cedo com o meu amigo para achar bons lugares para fotografar e fazer umas fotos testes.
Por causa disso, quando o artista chegou, conversei rapidamente sobre como que queria que ele se movesse e começamos a fotografar.
Andamos pelos locais aonde eu já sabia que queria clicar com o meu amigo segurando a estante de luz com uma beauty dish no strobe.
A sessão durou menos de 10 minutos.

 

 

Back to Brazil…for good.

Hey everyone,

After almost 7 years living in US I decided to come back to my home country, Brazil.

It was an amazing experience to live in California but I felt it was time to be with my family and friends again.

I’m still in the process of getting settled but at least all my gear got here couple of days ago and I’m ready to start shooting.

Meanwhile, I’m going to post here some snapshots that I took with my phone on my first weeks in Brazil.

 

Photography Show

Hello guys,

Couple of weeks ago I had the honor to present my portfolio in a gallery and have it showcased for 3 weeks at Orange Coast College.

I got an amazing feedback from people and I couldn’t be happier.

During my reception night, I had friends coming over as well people that I didn’t know but were fans of my work.

I want to thank everyone for coming!!!

European Trip: Copenhagen, Denmark

Hey everyone,

I’m going to be posting some pictures while I’m traveling in Europe.

This is a dream to me, I’ve always wanted to come here to visit and shoot.

My sister is living in Copenhagen and we will be traveling to Sweeden, Lithuania, Croatia, Germany, England and we will maybe add some other countries to this trip! The good thing of traveling with my sister is that she knows how things work here and she can be my photo assistant haha!

My first 3 days in Copenhagen was cold and rainy…not cool! But I didn’t care and went out anyways and shot alot. I’ve been amazed by the european architecture so I’ve been trying to capture alot of that and maybe build a project on that subject. I’ve been also shooting some other projects I’ve been working on. The 4th day was sunny and hot, finally! We got on a tour boat, which was fun, and explored more of this amazing city. After 5 days there I can say: I love Copenhagen!!!

Today I just arrived in Lithuania to visit my old good friend from Brasil that plays football here and I will be posting pictures from here soon.

Ps.: all the pictures I’m posting on the blog while i’m on the trip will be just some quick post-processing on Lightroom 3. I will later, in US, work on them on Photoshop from scratch.

 

Scout Compton

Hello, finally posting new photos!

Couple of months ago I had the opportunity to shoot the actress Scout Compton, she has been on several tv shows like Gilmore Girls, Bones, CSI: NY as well as movies like Halloween.

Since she is well known for the Halloween movies, we decided to go for a Vampire photoshoot (but without all the twilight sparkle haha).

My good friend Matt was also part of the shoot as a zombie.

We had an amazing make-up artist, Sean Diaz,  to help us out in this shoot and he did an amazing job!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

New Web Site

Avenida Paulista, Sao Paulo – Brazil

I spent almost 3 weeks back home in Sao Paulo, Brazil, mainly to see my family and also for taking my wisdom tooth out. Yes, ouch!

Even though it was a big surgery due to the delicate position of my wisdom tooth and a bit more than a week on drugs, I spent some time shooting at one of the most famous avenues in Sao Paulo, the Avenida Paulista.

Don’t Judge a Book By It’s Cover

Hello everyone

First post here after I switched my blog to WordPress…finally!

I’m really excited about this photo that I’ve been working on for months.

I tried to illustrate the cliche “Dont Judge a Book By It’s Cover” in a funny way but it was also an opportunity to try new retouching techniques and new lighting gear.

First, I went to downtown LA to find a nice dirty alley to use as my background. Then, I shot my friend Andres in a studio using 2 large softboxes with 40 grids for rim light, a new 22′ beauty dish and a zeus ring flash.

Architectural Photography

Hey guys, today I;m posting something different.

Me and and couple of photo friends decided to try shooting some architectural photography. Gosh I didn’t know it would be so hard and take so much work! haha but we learned alot from this and I have some awesome work to show you guys

We shot two locations. One was a really nice house in Laguna Beach and the other one was Central Park West considered the first urban master-planned community in OC. They had amazing model apartments for us to shoot.

Band Shoot: Sugar Kane (Brazil)

Hey, another band shoot, another post!

This is Sugar Kane, a pretty sweet band from Brazil. They were part of the workshop I ran down there last vacation and we had alot of fun.

They are super chill dudes and easy to shoot people.

Wish I had more time to prepare for this shoot, with more production and better location but when you don’t have alot of time you have to just make it happen.

These guys are planing to come to United States and they will be releasing songs in English pretty soon, so visit their website and stay tunned!
